New Investor Powers Up Tarong West Wind Farm! ⚡️ (2026)

Bold claim: a new investor is stepping in to power a major shift in Queensland’s renewable scene, and the stakes are bigger than ever.

A major update in the Tarong West wind project reveals that Innagreen Investments has joined RES as the new equity partner backing the Ironpot development. This move comes after Stanwell relinquished its option to take full ownership of the project on the same day, setting the stage for Innagreen to take a central role.

Innagreen, a global investor, replaces Stanwell under the option arrangements. Stanwell, however, still holds exclusive rights to negotiate long-term commercial offtake agreements for the wind farm’s electricity, keeping a significant lever in the project’s future.

With Innagreen on board, RES and its new partner will work together through financing, construction, and ongoing operations, aiming to advance Tarong West into a fully realized energy facility.

The two organisations are no strangers to collaboration. They share ownership and a leadership team with more than a century of combined experience in renewable energy. Their joint track record includes operating projects such as the 100 MW Hilda Wind Farm and the 200 MW Bekevar Wind Farm in Canada, along with progress on a 39 MW wind farm in Northern Ireland.

An RES spokesperson emphasized the regional benefits, noting that the Tarong West Wind Farm is expected to deliver substantial economic gains for the local area through both construction and long-term jobs.

Innagreen outlined its investment philosophy as anchored in long-term ownership, active engagement with local communities, responsible development practices, and collaboration with experienced partners. This stance aligns with a broader industry trend toward stable, community-focused, and sustainable energy projects.

Controversy watch:
- The shift from Stanwell to Innagreen could spark debates about ownership and control of wind assets in Queensland, as well as questions about how long-term offtake arrangements will influence project economics and regional benefits.
- Some stakeholders might push back on the pace of development or on who ultimately benefits from job creation and local investment. What’s your take on who should bear the most responsibility for community engagement and upfront investment in large-scale renewables?
