The 2005 Super League trophy win at Old Trafford was a pinnacle moment for Bradford Bulls. Their fourth title in nine years, it marked a turning point, but also the beginning of a decline as key players left and the magic faded.
By 2014, when they were relegated under coach Jimmy Lowes, the Bulls had lost their aura. Now, the question is, how does this rejuvenated Bradford aim to reclaim its place among the top dogs?
Recruitment and Strategy
Given the late announcement of their acceptance back into the top flight, recruitment had to be swift. Among the notable signings are hooker Andy Ackers from Leeds, prop Ryan Sutton from Gold Coast Titans, and Jayden Nikorima and Loghan Lewis from Salford.
"I was surprised by the interest in playing for Bradford," Haggerty reveals. "We had to act quickly once we were officially in. It was nerve-wracking, but we've made some great moves."
Learning from Hull KR's Success
Bradford can take inspiration from Hull KR's 2025 triumph. Like the Bulls, Hull KR had to rebuild and regroup, and they did it by establishing a core of hungry players and appointing a driven coach, Willie Peters. The Robins shifted from underdogs to champions, proving that anything is possible.
"The core players, like Elliot Minchella, Jez Litten, and Dean Hadley, provide the heart and soul of the team. And Mikey Lewis has grown into a world-class star."
